Exclusions and demotions

Reasons for being removed from the housing register

Occasionally an applicant may be excluded from joining our housing register.

This will either be because of serious criminal/antisocial behaviour or very high levels of housing debt. All circumstances will be taken into consideration.

If this applies, you will be advised of the period of the exclusion, after which you will be eligible to re-apply and your circumstances at that time will be considered.

Less serious behaviour or lower levels of debt would result in your membership being demoted. This means that you would be placed in the general needs category without the benefit of waiting time.

If you are excluded from council housing, the Single Gateway scheme may be able to help.
