Home insurance

As a tenant you are not automatically covered for any of your home contents.

All tenants are advised to take out adequate cover to ensure that their contents are fully ensured against potential loss through theft, fire, vandalism or burst pipes.

While you are free to make your own arrangements, Gateshead Council has negiotiated exclusive cover for tenants with low cost premiums.

The scheme also covers replacement of locks for external doors or burglar alarms, if keys are lost.
