Title: New Director for the Gateshead Housing Company
Date: 02/06/04
The
Gateshead Housing Company has appointed Neil Bouch as its new Director
of Housing Management.
The company, which was set up in January, to manage over 23,500 of Gateshead
Council's homes, is currently embarking on a seven-year programme, that
could see over £330m being invested in local homes and housing services
by 2010.
Neil, 43, was previously the Housing Services Manager for Gateshead Council,
and then from January for the new arms-length company, until he took up
his recent appointment.
During his career to date, he has worked for The Tyneside Housing Aid
Centre, Manchester City Council, Irwell Valley Housing Association, Home
Housing and Johnnie Johnson Housing, totalling over twenty years of experience
in local and national housing issues.
His new role will see him managing the housing office network across
the borough, the company's Neighbourhood Relations Team, and playing a
major part in helping the company to improve the services it offers to
tenants and leaseholders prior to a Government inspection this August.
Neil said: "I am delighted to have taken up my new role, which promises
to be an exciting and challenging one.
"Hopefully the hard work ahead for us all will see The Gateshead
Housing Company getting at least two stars in August's inspection, allowing
us then to make a major impact on the lives of thousands of local people
in Gateshead."
Bill Fullen, Chief Executive of The Gateshead Housing Company, said:
"We are delighted to have appointed Neil to his new role as Director
of Housing Management.
"He takes up his new role at an exciting and challenging time for
the company, as we look to make those major improvements to the services
we give to thousands of people every day, and give people the standard
of housing they deserve by 2010.
"He brings with him a wealth of experience in housing issues, and
this experience means that local people will see a real difference to
housing services and standards through his and our other employees' efforts
and hard work over the coming months and years."
Notes to Editors: The Gateshead Housing Company was set up in January
2004 to be responsible for the day-to-day management of over 23,500 of
Gateshead Council's homes.
This year, The Gateshead Housing Company has made a commitment to spend
over £15m on major improvements to hundreds of local homes.
The company's initial programme will see improvements including, kitchens,
bathrooms, rewires and new windows, as well as rewiring, rendering, pointing,
tiling, roof repairs and insulation to hundreds of properties.
Should the company get a 'two-star' Government rating this August, it
could receive an extra £63million of Government funding later this
year.
This would be the first instalment of a possible £232million of
Government funding over the next seven years, to be used to make thousands
of major improvements.
