Title: New Board Member Has Housing Experience Date: 15/04/08 Richard Armitage has been appointed as an independent Board member of The Gateshead Housing Company.
Richard has worked for Broadacres Housing Association in Northallerton for the last eight years and is currently Financial Performance Manager for the association. His voluntary role will see him join other Board members in overseeing The Gateshead Housing Company’s £1m a week ‘Decent Homes’ programme to improve thousands of the borough’s homes. He said: “I kept on hearing positive things about The Gateshead Housing Company and thought that the role of independent Board member would be a good opportunity to share best practice between two north-eastern housing organisations. “My role with Broadacres Housing Association has given me a lot of experience in this sector, and I am sure that sharing this knowledge will contribute to the future aims of both The Gateshead Housing Company and Broadacres.” Bill Fullen, Chief Executive of The Gateshead Housing Company said: ““We are delighted to have someone as knowledgeable as Richard joining our Board. “His experience and skills will help ensure the company delivers the improvements it wants to make to local homes and services over the coming years.” The Gateshead Housing Company, which manages just under 22,000 homes across Gateshead, has a Board made up of five tenants, councillors and independent members.
