Title: Conference Will Help Improve Gateshead Estates

Date: 17/04/08

The company that manages thousands of homes in Gateshead is asking customers how it can improve estates and communities across the borough.

The Gateshead Housing Company has organised a conference in May to get tenants and leaseholders’ views at first hand, as it looks to make £1m a week of improvements to homes and neighbourhoods across Gateshead.

Residents will be able to talk about how the company could make estates feel and look even better and how it can work with residents to build stronger communities.

The ‘Customers, Communities and estates’ conference is being held at The Sage Gateshead, Gateshead Quays, on Wednesday, 21 May, from 10am to 4pm.

Tenants and leaseholders need to pre-register for the conference by calling 0191 433 5357 or 0191 433 5380 or by e-mailing involve@gatesheadhousing.co.uk

Places can also be booked by Minicom on 0191 433 5349 or by text to 0762 480 4167, starting text with ‘INVOLVE’.

Bill Fullen, Chief Executive of The Gateshead Housing Company, which manages just under 22,000 homes, wants tenants and leaseholders of all ages and backgrounds to come along to their local conference.

He said: “We are fully committed to getting tenants and leaseholders involved at every stage of our plans to raise the standard of local housing and estates.

“We want to see people of all ages and backgrounds at the conference, and we are particularly interested in getting the views of the borough’s black and minority ethnic community, as well as disabled customers or those with any special needs.

“The event will be informal and fun. And during the day we genuinely want to hear the honest views of local people, whether complimentary or otherwise.

“So I would urge any of our tenants or leaseholders who have a real interest in helping us to improve, to get in touch and get a place at May’s conference.”
