Gateshead Council's Supported Housing Team provides help to people who need assistance to successfully maintain their housing company tenancy.
New and current tenants may struggle to cope for a range of reasons including:
- Health problems
- Debt problems
- Drug and/or alcohol dependencies
- Mental health issues
- Difficulty completing forms.
The team offers help and advice to vulnerable tenants and leaseholders by working with over 25 agencies, as well as the housing company.
The service covers a range of areas, including access to:
- The Single Gateway Scheme
- The Tenancy Support Service
- Domestic Violence Support Service
- Asylum Support Team
- Debt advice
- Refugee Move On Service
- Advice on homelessness.
