Check out Gateshead Council's Self Service Waste Collection Dates to find out when your next bin collection will be.

Your wheeled bin is used for all your general household waste and is collected every week.

On collection day we advise you to:

  • Put out your bin by 7.30am
  • Place it on the kerbside outside your house
  • Make sure the handles are facing towards the road.

If you are elderly or have problems moving your bin, please call 0191 433 7000 and Gateshead Council will do what it can to help.

When your bin is full, please don't leave out additional bags of rubbish you may have. These won't be collected and could result in litter or vermin problems as well as a fine for you.

So, please leave it until the next collection or contact us to arrange a bulky refuse collection.

And always remember to bring in your bin as soon as possible after collection. Bins left outside can cause an obstruction for pedestrians and traffic.

You can also risk losing your bin or being fined.

Leave it out!
Please don't put the following into your wheeled bin:

  • Hot ashes
  • Stones and rubble
  • Engine oil and car parts
  • Soil.

And if you have recyclable materials - glass, cans, paper, garden waste etc - please recycle it rather than throw it away.
