You can help shape future of Gateshead
Published Monday 2nd November 09
Residents have the chance to help shape an ambitious strategy that aims to make Gateshead one of the best places to live, work and visit by the year 2030.
The Gateshead Strategic Partnership (GSP), made up of representatives from the housing company, Gateshead Council, the NHS, Northumbria Police, Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service and voluntary groups, wants to ensure that everyone has a say on how the borough will change over the next 20 years.
In 2007 partners across Gateshead launched Vision 2030, a strategy that set out a wide range of measures to improve the area and have a positive impact on people's lives.
However due to global and national economic developments, the GSP has released a short consultation to find out if residents agree with current priorities and areas of work.
Councillor Mick Henry, Chair of the GSP and Leader of Gateshead Council, said: "A lot can happen in two years, and that's why we want to talk to local people to see if our priorities are still what they want us to focus on.
"We want feedback on the real issues that are important to them in making a brighter future for Gateshead."
