Deckham tenants to see improvement choices

A rubber duck.

Residents in central Gateshead are getting the chance to see how over £521,000 of home improvements will be carried out on their estate this year.

The Gateshead Housing Company has invited over 100 residents from the Mount Pleasant estate in Deckham to see the choices available as part of planned 'Decent Homes' work.

The 'Your home, Your choice' event will take place this Thursday (28 January), at the Mount Pleasant Social Club, Cromwell Street, Deckham, from 11am to 3pm.

The Gateshead Housing Company's Chief Executive, Bill Fullen, said: "We have already changed housing in Gateshead forever by making improvements to thousands of homes, with less than one in eight homes now needing work done.

"These local events give customers having Decent Homes work a chance to see improvements such as new bathrooms, kitchens and doors at first hand."

Customers having improvement works have received a personal invitation to the choice event from the housing company, which manages over 21,000 homes across the borough.

Anyone with queries about the forthcoming improvement work can contact the company's Decent Homes Team.

Work will start in March on the estate and should be completed by June.
