Dealing with rubbishIf you have bulky household rubbish or bagged garden waste which will not fit inside your rubbish bin then you can telephone Local Environmental Services of Gateshead Council who will collect it free of charge. Upon request, Gateshead Council will investigate all incidents of fly tipping. It will, where appropriate arrange for the removal and disposal of illegally dumped rubbish from highways, footpaths and pedestrian areas and other areas of land owned by Gateshead Council. The landowner or tenant is responsible for the removal of waste illegally dumped on privately owned land. Gateshead Council will take action, which could include prosecution against anyone who fly tips. You can telephone 0191 433 7000 or e-mail enquiries@pwd.gatesheadmbc.gov.uk giving your name, address, contact number and details of your rubbish.
