Residents at the housing company’s sheltered schemes have been enjoying a spot of gardening thanks to funding from our Sustainable Communities Fund.
Residents and staff from the Older Person’s Housing Team got in touch with local garden centre Bloomin Al’s to choose the plants and equipment they needed for the gardening project.
They chose planters, hanging baskets, compost and a wide range of bedding plants that could be used for gardening activity days and to make the sheltered schemes look more attractive.
Older Person’s Housing Manager, Michelle Muldoon-Smith said: “For older people, staying active and finding fulfilling hobbies such as gardening is important and beneficial to their physical and mental health.
“The residents really enjoyed the gardening activities and the sheltered schemes look bright and colourful now thanks to Bloomin Al’s.”
The residents hope to continue gardening to stay active and keep their sheltered schemes looking good.
