Housing company tenant and professional hairdresser and beautician Emma Lowery is celebrating a win at The English Hair and Beauty Awards.
After reaching the finals, Emma received Highly Commended at the awards, held at the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel.
Emma, who lives on the Springwell Estate, set up her own hair and beauty business in the Springwell Community Centre in 2017. Her business, ColourLine Hair & Beauty, is popular with locals on the estate, many of whom are regular clients.
Although the community centre is used for a wide variety of activities, Emma’s business is unique in that she rents a room to run her salon from.
Emma is now hoping to increase footfall to her salon and is using social media to spread the word.
Emma said: “I am overwhelmed by the support from my clients, family and friends who nominated me in the category of Best of the North East 2019. To be highly commended is a great achievement for me within my career.
“I look forward to the rest of 2019 and bringing bigger and better things for ColourLine and I hope to see lots of new as well as returning faces through the salon doors.”
Neighbourhood Housing Officer Natalie Thorburn said: “I’m delighted that Emma’s business has been acknowledged with an award. All her hard work has paid off and it’s great to see one of our tenants achieve success.”
