In Autumn 2017 we told you about a new scheme to install district heating systems to seven multi-storey blocks in Gateshead. The project is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
We’re pleased to announce that the work is now complete at all the blocks – Regent Court in Central Gateshead and the six at Harlow Green – Acomb, Bedale, Ripley, Willerby, Barford and Stretford Courts.
Residents are now enjoying the benefits of an eco-friendly up-to-date system that provides instant hot water and fully controllable heating.
The flats all have individual smart meters to allow tenants and leaseholders to keep track of how much heat they are using.
In addition to the updated heating, the flats all have new windows, and at Regent Court ‘curtain walling’ at the front and back has replaced the old wooden façade.
Gateshead Council’s Service Director Peter Udall said: “The modernised heating system will not only help reduce bills but will also contribute to the health and wellbeing of our tenants.
“The scheme also helps the Council achieve its commitment to reducing domestic carbon emissions by reducing energy consumption and replacing old heating systems with low carbon alternatives.”
If you are interested in renting a home in one of these blocks, please email the Lettings Team.
