Residents at a sheltered scheme in Birtley held an Easter event this week to raise money for St Oswald’s Hospice.
The day was an overwhelming success, with a pie-and-peas meal, a raffle, bingo and prize competitions for the best Easter bonnet and paste egg.
The event was arranged by sheltered scheme officers and residents of Birtley Villas and Croftside, who have been supporting local hospice St Oswald’s for 19 years, in memory of loved ones who have stayed there.
Sheltered Housing Estate Officer Marion Ranson said: “The day has been fantastic. Everyone got really involved, and put in lots of effort with their decorated eggs and Easter bonnets.
“It was great fun, and we’ve raised a lot of money for a charity that’s very close to our hearts.”
