Every little helps

Our food bank has received a welcome boost, thanks to the team at Tesco Trinity Square.

Run by the Rent and Income Team, our food bank was set up to provide instant access to supplies. We offer food and toiletries to any customers in urgent need, including those without food bank vouchers.

Like any food bank, we rely on donations. They usually come from housing company staff, but last week we received supplies from Tesco. Their donation included groceries, fresh produce and bread, as well as chocolate and toiletries. They also gave us Play-Doh sets, for families with children.

Rent and Income Service Manager Emma Metters said: “Thank you to Tesco staff for their generosity.

“We are always grateful for donations, but especially now. The current situation has created more financial uncertainty for some customers, so our support is needed more than ever.”

If you have any concerns about your financial situation, call the Rent and Income Team on 0191 433 6150.

During lockdown, we’re working in partnership with Gateshead Foodbank to provide food parcels. We’re also delivering food as part of Gateshead Council’s COVID-19 community support programme. If you require emergency support, call 0191 433 7112.
