Spring has sprung, and to celebrate, Gateshead residents can take part in a Gardening course on Tuesday, 5 May between 10.30am and 12.30pm.

The session is one of the many offered by the company through its ‘Moving Forward’ training programme.

The free training, “An introduction to regrowing, groundwork and planters”, will help green-fingered attendees make the most of their outdoor space.

The course will focus on how to prepare the ground before growing, using conventional and innovative planters, and show participants how to regrow certain vegetables.

Involvement and Diversity Officer at the housing company, Helen Watson, said: “We’re thrilled to be able to offer this exciting new course.

“Home-grown vegetables are delicious, save you money, and give you such a sense of achievement.

“If they wish, attendees can bring along carrots, celery, onion, garlic or potatoes, and be shown how best to regrow them.”

The housing company’s Moving Forward training programme offers something for everyone, from leading a healthy lifestyle to social media skills, stress awareness to managing money.

Courses are open to anyone who lives in Gateshead and support is available, including transport and interpreters.
