The Gateshead Housing Company has been presented with an award for its dedication to promoting a healthy workplace for its employees.
The ‘Better Health at Work NE’ silver award recognised work the housing company has done to provide a healthy environment for its employees to work in – and follows a bronze award achieved in 2014.
These will include events and information on:
- Men’s health
- Women’s health
- Mental health
- General health and wellbeing initiatives.
The company also created a number of health and wellbeing programmes for individual employees, tailored to their own specific needs.
On receiving the award Jon Mallen-Beadle, Managing Director, said: “Health and wellbeing in the workplace is very important to us all at the housing company.
“As a business we consistently focus on providing a healthy environment for our employees, with our HR, Health and Wellbeing Team offering support and a variety of health-based services.
“We firmly believe a healthy workforce is a happy workforce.”
In addition to supporting employees, the housing company, which manages nearly 20,000 homes for Gateshead Council, also offers free courses for customers covering health improvements, such as managing stress and confidence building.
