Residents at McErlane Square recently benefited from a hot, home-cooked meal delivered to their door, thanks to Sheltered Scheme Officer Lynda Henderson.
Lynda came up with the idea of a ‘hot meal project’ as many residents have been shielding during the pandemic. As a result, they have had very little social contact in recent months, with many relying on microwave meals.
To let the residents know she’s thinking of them, Lynda cooked and delivered 16 meals – she describes it as her way of ‘giving something back’.
The hot meals were a hit with residents and, due to its success, she hopes to make the hot meal project a regular feature at McErlane Square.
Older Persons Housing Manager Andrew Yates said: “With communal lounges still closed due to the pandemic, residents are missing socialising. Lynda’s initiative ensured residents not only received a hot, home-cooked meal, but they also saw a friendly face.
“Thank you to Lynda for her commitment to the residents at McErlane Square.”
