Hundreds of people attending Newcastle Pride 2016 last weekend got the chance to meet our employees and find out about the services we provide across Gateshead.
Newcastle Pride aims to reduce homophobia, promote awareness of equality, and unite lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities across the region.
The Gateshead Housing Company’s Lettings Team was at the ever-popular event, raising awareness of the company’s work as an inclusive landlord.
Lettings Assistant Michele Harland said: “Many people don’t realise that we have homes available for rent now, without spending time on a long waiting list.
“There are big advantages to renting from us rather than a private landlord – such as regular scheduled maintenance, support from housing officers, and repairs reporting 24/7.”
“To see the latest properties for rent simply subscribe to our weekly email.”
Jon Mallen-Beadle, Managing Director and Corporate Lead on Equality at The Gateshead Housing Company, thought the event was a great way to engage with residents.
He said: “This was the ninth time we have attended and co-sponsored Pride and its parade and each year we gain invaluable views on housing from the LGBT community.
“We have recently launched our Equality and Inclusion Scheme 2016-2019 and Pride is an ideal opportunity for us to show our support to LGBT people as inclusive landlords.”
Simon Hand from the housing company’s Involvement Team was also at the event, letting customers know about the many ways they can get involved to shape our services.
Newcastle Pride is one of many events the housing company is attending this summer, as it aims to promote its work as as an inclusive landlord to as many Gateshead residents as possible.
