Job purpose
To project manage activities in the Repairs and Maintenance service. To contribute towards the delivery of a customer-focused, right-first-time, safe and compliant repairs service. To support the team in arranging, overseeing and delivering works, covering repairs, refurbishments and upgrades to a range of housing stock and other Gateshead Council properties.
The key roles of this post will include:

- To coordinate and monitor the delivery of all operations and activities of, but not limited to, repairs, refurbishments, upgrades and projects
- To monitor, manage and update progress of repairs and maintenance against policy and performance indicators, and customer expectations/needs
- To effectively co-ordinate & supervise teams engaged in the delivery of repairs and maintenance
- To monitor and manage subcontractor performance and other related issues within appropriate contract guidelines
- To manage, monitor and challenge financial and budget performance and other related issues whilst ensuring a value for money approach
- To accurately record activities to properties, updating ICT systems to aid with future asset management and customer journey
- To ensure compliance with appropriate specifications and codes of practice
- To deliver quality services with an appropriate framework (e.g. best value, Q.A.)
- Such other responsibilities allocated which are appropriate to the grade of the post

Qualifications
- Degree in Construction Management or certified Project Management Professional (PMP) qualification*, or a willingness to work towards +
- HNC/D (or equivalent) qualification in a construction related subject, and/or extensive industry related experience at a similar level/position + *
- Full driving license or ability to meet the travel requirements of the post + *
Experience
- Substantial demonstrable experience working on multiple technically complex projects with minimal supervision*
- On-site managerial experience or technical work experience + *
- Reading and accurately interpreting construction drawings and specifications + *
- Producing detailed programmes or schedules + *
- Health & safety regulations, including CDM regulations + *
- Managing employee and subcontractor performance + *
- Proficient in IT packages such as MS Project and Excel + *
