Do you need help to get a job?

We now have an Employment Adviser offering personalised support to help tenants get into paid employment.

This is part of the housing company’s partnership with Gateshead Council’s Economic and Housing Growth service, which works closely with local businesses to match jobseekers to vacancies.

Our Employment Adviser, Melvyn Mallam-Churchill, can help with:

CVs, application forms and covering letters
We can help you present yourself well on paper, making sure your CV is relevant for the job you want.  We can support you to complete application forms and write covering letters that promote your skills and experience.

Job searching
Register with job-search websites and make your CV and covering letters available for employers to find online.

Interview techniques and body language
We can help you represent yourself positively, organising mock interviews for specific sectors and following up with detailed feedback.

“Better off” calculations
A personalised estimate of your potential earnings so you can budget and plan in advance.

Training or specialist advice from partner organisations
Referrals to local training providers to improve your skills and advice on self-employment options.

In-work support
We can keep in touch with you once you are employed, helping you settle in. This can be particularly helpful if you are long-term unemployed and nervous about returning to work.
