From April 2016 you could be charged £150 if you do not allow us access to your property.
Gaining access to properties to carry out gas safety checks has become a major issue for social landlords, with lives being put at risk and considerable sums of money being wasted each year on trying to gain access.
The Gateshead Housing Company working with Gateshead Council has taken steps to address this by introducing measures to charge tenants who breach their tenancy agreements by not allowing access for a gas safety check.
Tenants who do not meet their appointments can now be charged £150 for the cost of taking legal action to gain entry.
Your annual gas safety check is a legal requirement and part of your tenancy agreement. Not having your gas appliance serviced puts your neighbours at risk as well as yourself.
