After ten years of involvement with the housing company, George Bell (78) of Wrekenton is stepping down.
George has taken part in many activities, including Service Improvement Groups, mystery shopping, focus groups and training courses through the Moving Forward programme.
George said, “I’ve really enjoyed being able to have a say in the decisions made by the housing company and to feel ‘useful’ after working life.
“My favourite part has been the friendships I’ve made with the other volunteers.”
Although George is stepping down, he’s keen to encourage others to get involved: “Go for it – you cannot lose out!”
When asked what service improvements he has seen as a result of customer involvement he told us: “I’ve had a say in how various savings could be made. Being involved has made me realise how much it’s our housing company!”
Involvement and Diversity Officer Simon Hand said: “Without involved customers like George we wouldn’t find out what customers want. Customer feedback is invaluable to inform how we deliver services.
“George has made a huge contribution over the past ten years and we wish him well in the future.”
